Our Story

On a one-acre micro flower farm, retired florists can find a unique joy in growing chrysanthemum plugs, dahlia tubers, and terrariums. These plants not only allow for a diverse array of colours and textures but also contribute to an inviting and vibrant atmosphere.

Chrysanthemum Plugs
Chrysanthemums, known for their hardy nature and variety, are a staple in the flower industry. By starting with plugs, the growing process is more manageable. These plants thrive in sunny conditions and well-drained soil, making them suitable for a range of climates. Regular watering and the right fertiliser can help achieve blooms in various shapes and sizes, perfect for bouquets or arrangements.

Dahlia Tubers
Dahlias are renowned for their stunning flowers and come in many forms, from the classic pompon to the elegant dinner-plate varieties. Planting tubers in fertile soil ensures they establish strong roots. Depending on the variety, they can bloom from mid-summer through autumn. Careful attention to watering and occasional support for taller varieties can enhance their growth and flowering potential.

Terrariums
Terrariums offer a creative outlet and a way to showcase smaller plants within a contained ecosystem. Selecting suitable plants, such as ferns or succulents, enables one to design lush mini-gardens. Ensuring proper drainage and creating a balanced environment of light and humidity will support the health of these indoor gardens, allowing them to thrive with minimal maintenance.

With a focus on these three areas, a retired florist can turn a passion for flowers into a fulfilling hobby, cultivating beauty and joy on the micro farm while embracing the serenity of rural life.
